Situation: My apt was uninhabitable for 17 days. I have been trying to call my property manager during this time so we can discuss how my rent will be pro-rated during this time. NO ONE has returned any of my phone calls.

I've been searching the 'net for information on where I can file a complaint. I haven't been successful. Does anyone in this forum know where I can file comlaints? I live in the Southern California area; Los Angeles County.

Thanks in advance!

You might need to prove this condition and the best way is your municipal housing dept. would send an inspector. You do have to record this condition with the city otherwise it could come down to just your word about that.

What I usually do in this case is withhold rent. If you paid for this month already then next month's rent might be the way to go.

But anytime something is not working in your apt. you have to call the proper city agency to send out an inspector.
